The founder

Christon “Chris” Staples

He was born in Saginaw, Michigan and spent the majority of his childhood in the Detroit area. He got into the Harlem Globetrotters the direct way: he emailed them a video of himself dunking. Within weeks he had an in-person audition, and shortly after that he was a Globetrotter.

He spent three years with the team. Global Dunk Empire’s own site says that opened the doors that took him to more than 75 countries; his current Instagram bio and an August 2026 Threads post both put the figure at over 70. Either way it is the defining number of the career, and this site uses the more conservative 70+.

He now lives in Los Angeles, California, where he acts, makes content full-time and runs Global Dunk Empire. He described the content work in 2021 as a job with hours: “I work on it from 9am–5pm, so I’m very disciplined.”

His stated ambition, in his own words: “I want to prove that dunkers can expand to be in a movie, set a world record, have their own show — they don’t have to be just a professional dunker.”

A note on what is missing

Global Dunk Empire publishes no legal entity name, no business address, no phone number, no fee schedule and no client testimonials. Its Live Updates page has not had a new photograph since 2019, even though Chris Staples posts to Instagram and Threads daily. None of those gaps has been filled in with a guess on this site.
